Mineral - Step (cover by Maija Paloheimo)

Free Track of The Week #12 is a chilly and easylistening drum’n'bass track by Mineral. The rolling breaks and beats accompanied with various melodies make this a nice roller. Grab a cup of coffee (or even better: a cold beer), turn up the volume and start listening! Hope you enjoy this track!

The cover artwork for Step is designed by a really talented graphic artist Maija Paloheimo. She has done lots of amazing works for bands and different websites for example, so check out her portfolio for more art by Maija.

Kongocrew 10-years party was a real success!

On December 19, 2010, in News, by Mineral

The Kongocrew 10-years celebration was a real success last Friday. Many d’n'b heads from Finland gathered together in this very special event. I had a blast performing a B2B DJ-set with Quadra from Defence. It was a pleasure to meet so many friends and new faces too. Thanks to all the people who attended! Also, massive props to Esc & DBLJ for arranging this event. Can’t tell you how much I appreciate it.

The new Free Track of The Week will be up tomorrow… It’s gonna be really good, so check back tomorrow!

Yesh! This weeks Free Track comes from Germany, from a really talented artist, Wintermute. I’m really loving the atmosphere and especially the bassline in this tune. Listen & download now:

Wintermute – The Rift Between (cut) by Wintermute (mal_function)

WintermuteWintermute is a moniker of Florian Förster aka. mal_function, which he uses for all of his bass-driven music productions. He excels in producing eclectic musical pieces, which vary from deep, minimal drum’n’bass tunes to techno and dubstep excursions. Most of his drum’n’bass productions were released under Creative Commons Licence by the german netlabel digitalGEWITTER and the demoscene-related NoSYS Productions. Wintermute’s current productions received dj support by Kano (Sinuous Records, DSCI4/UK), Neonlight (TrustInMusic, Ammunition Rec./GER), Acid_Lab (Basswerk, Syncopathic Rec./GER), to mention a few.

Breaks, unique sounds, atmospheric percussions and melodies that give you goosebumps? If this sounds perfect, this weeks Free Track of The Week is for you. Proudly presenting:

Shogun (remix) by Fanu
Fanu, master of breaksFanu is, without doubts, one of the most successful Finnish drum’n'bass & downtempo artists with a large scale of fans around the world. Fanu is a busy producer & DJ who spins vinyls around the world, and he has releases on quite a few labels: Subtitles, Commercial Suicide, Offshore, Ohm Resistance / Columbia, Breakin’, Warm Communications, Subtle Audio, Subvert Central, Thermal, Forestry Service , LoCuts, Soothsayer, 13 Music, Pauze, Darkestral, Pinecone Moonshine, Bonafide, Cyberset , and now he’s concentrating on his own label, Lightless Recordings.

Personally, what I’ve always enjoyed most in Fanu’s production, is his unique style to chop the breaks, and his skills with the drums in general. Also, the atmospheres in both his downtempo and drum’n'bass production are very much worth mentioning. Check out the cool reverbs on the percussions of this Shogun remix, and you’ll know what I’m talking about! Amazing stuff, for real.

FANUFanu runs his label Lightless REMIXES MINERAL, FORTHCOMING ON LIGHTLESS DIGITAL

Fanu has been working on a remix of my track “Jupiter” during the last weeks, and the remix is about to get finished. I’ve heard previews, and I gotta tell it is a DOPE remix! Also, I’m more than happy to announce that the it will be released later on Lightless Digital with another track by myself, Twisted Dream. Expect some serious amen rudeboy business in this release!

My track “Lukumo” was recently remixed by two drum’n'bass heads from Germany, Wintermute & Audite. I’m digging the remix very much, as it adds really good dancefloor spices and roughness to the track. Thanks for the remix guys, I appreciate this a lot! Here’s some info about Wintermute & Audite:

Audite is a popular DJ from Germany having over 80.000 visits at his myspace: ”Boundless Beatz stands for my boundless love to different music styles. I listen to nearly every kind of music but as a dj I prefer to play dnb, breaks and dubstep.”, Audite writes at his site.

What would be a better way to start a week, than to listen to this fresh Free Track of The Week by Ben Kama? I can’t think of any, so check this out:

Ben Kama

Ben Kama is a Finnish Drum’n'bass producer & DJ who has a very strong talent in producing drum’n'bass. He has  forthcoming releases on several labels, and already over 300 fans at his soundcloud.

The Free Track of The Week, “Someone”, is a smooth and soothing drum’n'bass piece. It is a rework of a track ‘Joku Jota Rakastan’ (Someone I Love) by a Finnish folk band ‘Kaseva’ from the good ol’ 70′s.” I like the melodies and drums a lot, this is a fine piece of art!

Kama is also doing a remix of my track “Mineral – Reach For The Stars“, and I’m really looking forward to his remix.

Hope you like this track! Make sure you check out Kama’s soundcloud too and start following him – there’s plenty of high quality tracks to be listened at his profile!

I know it’s only 4 days since the previous Free Track of The Week, but I’m too excited about this track to wait any further. So, ladies and gentlemen, the 2nd Free Track of The Week is…

Naraka, also known as the other part of the famous Vesicle dubstep duo, presents an absolute neuro-dnb stunner. The track is an exclusive “2k10″ edit of Naraka’s Bent Sky. I’ve been always a big fan of Naraka’s production, and I’ve played the original Bent Sky in clubs many times. It’s a real dancefloorkiller, I’m tellin’ ya…

In this “2k10″ edit the atmosphere & sounds get even darker and nastier. Naraka shows his true production talents in this excellent track with rollerbeats and wicked neuro-basslines. Well, “it’s amazing”, just like the vocal says in the track!

Make sure that you check more of Naraka’s production:
- Naraka, drum’n'bass
- Vesicle, dub step

Thanks for all the demos you’ve been sending to me. Please keep on sending the good music – the best ones will make it to the Track of The Week!
