Burma has been involved in drum ‘n bass scene for over a decade. Producing his own “glue sniffing” style of jump up, DJing around Finland and promoting his own parties has established him as one of the key players in Finnish DnB scene. You can never know what comes next when you see him perform live. Burma is a signed artist for RuffDNBRecords.
Free Track of The Week #10 is up, and the site gets more international attention, as we have a special guest Eclipse from Poland. I’ve been feeling this track a lot lately as it’s deep and atmospheric drum’n’bass – just the way it should!
Piotr Pasierowski aka Eclipse – DJ, promoter and producer from Gdansk, Poland. Member of Deeper Than Deep collective. Fascinated by electronic music for several years. He gained first experience on brother CD’s. Dark, melodic trip-hop took possession of his mind, and set up a musical way. For several years focused on drum and bass music. Eclipse began making his own music over a year ago. His productions and sets are characterized by a cinematic elements and strong, deep bass sound . Playing at many events he had chance to support DJs such as: Survival, Zyon Base, Skeptical, DBR UK, Flatliners, Bcee, Bungle.
It’s time to present a fresh Drum’n’bass track from an extremely potential young talent, Puzzle. The atmosphere is very special in this Free Track of The Week #9, “Kumoi”.
Puzzle alias Juho Kavasto is a young talent from Finland. Being only 15 years at the moment, Puzzle has an excellent future as a Drum’n’bass artist. Several labels are already interested in his production, which is not surprising: simply listen to this guy’s tracks and be amazed of the tight drum’s and the deep basslines.
Keep an eye for Puzzle’s production, as I’m sure he will break big time in the future!
This week is very special to me as the group of junglists from Finland, Kongocrew, is celebrating its 10-year-birthday. I’ve been a member since 2001, and I want to honour this event with my 2010 VIP of the classic “Kongo Tune” by Esc:

Esc alias Juha Riipinen is a DJ/Producer hailing from Tampere, Finland. This guy has been fiddling with music since he was a kid. Esc has explored various styles from punk to techno but after hearing Super Sharp Shooter and Square Off at the mid-90’s, there has not been a question though, what music he loves the best.
Since late 90’s Esc has contributed to the scene also as a DJ. In the year 2000 he co-founded the first ever weekly d&b club in Finland with DJ Beyond from Kongocrew and has later played at various clubs and events with the likes of Seba, Noisia, Loxy, Sabre and SpectraSoul to name but a few. Esc is also part of the Pressure cru which runs Pressure, one of the longest standing d&b clubs in Finland.
I’ve been producing, DJ’ing and arranging dnb events with Esc for years now. This 2010 VIP of Esc’s classic Kongo Tune is made for the celebration of the 10 years of Kongocrew! Hope you enjoy it. I’m gonna play the track for sure next friday at the party!

I’m happy to announce that Esc’s track Lost And Found will be shortly out on Indajungle recordings with my remix of the track.
Personally, the years with Kongocrew mean a lot to me and I’ve had the time of my life with the crew. Now it’s time to celebrate the successful years and spin all the greatest tracks next Friday at the Cut club @ Tampere Yo-talo.

Wintermute is a moniker of Florian Förster aka. mal_function, which he uses for all of his bass-driven music productions. He excels in producing eclectic musical pieces, which vary from deep, minimal drum’n’bass tunes to techno and dubstep excursions. Most of his drum’n’bass productions were released under Creative Commons Licence by the german netlabel digitalGEWITTER and the demoscene-related NoSYS Productions. Wintermute’s current productions received dj support by Kano (Sinuous Records, DSCI4/UK), Neonlight (TrustInMusic, Ammunition Rec./GER), Acid_Lab (Basswerk, Syncopathic Rec./GER), to mention a few.

Shogun (remix) by Fanu Fanu is, without doubts, one of the most successful Finnish drum’n’bass & downtempo artists with a large scale of fans around the world. Fanu is a busy producer & DJ who spins vinyls around the world, and he has releases on quite a few labels: Subtitles, Commercial Suicide, Offshore, Ohm Resistance / Columbia, Breakin’, Warm Communications, Subtle Audio, Subvert Central, Thermal, Forestry Service , LoCuts, Soothsayer, 13 Music, Pauze, Darkestral, Pinecone Moonshine, Bonafide, Cyberset, and now he’s concentrating on his own label, Lightless Recordings.
Personally, what I’ve always enjoyed most in Fanu’s production, is his unique style to chop the breaks, and his skills with the drums in general. Also, the atmospheres in both his downtempo and drum’n’bass production are very much worth mentioning. Check out the cool reverbs on the percussions of this Shogun remix, and you’ll know what I’m talking about! Amazing stuff, for real.
FANU REMIXES MINERAL, FORTHCOMING ON LIGHTLESS DIGITAL
Fanu has been working on a remix of my track “Jupiter” during the last weeks, and the remix is about to get finished. I’ve heard previews, and I gotta tell it is a DOPE remix! Also, I’m more than happy to announce that the it will be released later on Lightless Digital with another track by myself, Twisted Dream. Expect some serious amen rudeboy business in this release!
Oh yes, another Free Track of The Week is up: “Trisector & InZtance – Something to Give”. This is a really marvellous track that I’ve been listening to a lot lately. Listen & download below:
Trisector aka Otto Hassinen (Sciencehki) was inspired by music from an early age, and he has been around in the Finnish DnB scene for quite some time. I remember listening to his tracks already around the year 2000 on the Finnish radiostation Radiomafia by DJ Dizzy – I’ve been a big fan for a long time and I’ve been playing his tracks a lot in my DJ sets too. Trisector tracks are some real dancefloor mayhems, I’m telling ya!
Lately Trisector has really succeeded in making his sound known around the world with DJ support from names like Blu Mar Ten, ASC, Muffler, Physics, Resound, London Elektricity, Survival, S.P.Y, Kasra, Loxy, Mutated Forms and Chris SU among others. He has releases under Med School, Botchit, Destructive and Urban Graffiti, to mention a few. So we’re talking about a big junglist/breakbeat head here! Over 1000 Trisector facebook -fans can’t be wrong.
Trisector is also busy running a monthly night called Science in his hometown Helsinki. Last year I was invited to play there too, and I loved the party. Also, there’s plenty of high quality Science podcasts available at the Science page: www.sciencehki.net
inZtance a.k.a. Villem Hion is a drum & bass artist hailing from Estonia. He has recent releases on Med School and Hustle audio, and he has earlier releases on Basswerk Files, Red Dragon Recordings, Nineteen 95 Recordings to mention a few. Also, In December 2007 inZtance won the “Best Drum & Bass Producer in Estonia” award. You should check out more of his tracks at inZtance soundcloud. Awesome tunes man!

With the ever-shortening days of November comes the next chapter of Drum & Bass awesomeness in the form of Defence in Mbar. This time around we’re celebrating changing seasons by hosting a label night dedicated to the well-respected Lightless Recordings. Representing the mighty label we have no other than the label owner Fanu and the legendary DJ / producer Dak. This all will take place on saturday, 20.11.2010 from 21:00 to 03:0…0 (GMT+2). Defence is honoured to host a night with a lineup of this magnitude, that would normally cost you an entrance fee, for absolutely free. No reason to miss.
Ben Kama is a Finnish Drum’n’bass producer & DJ who has a very strong talent in producing drum’n’bass. He has forthcoming releases on several labels, and already over 300 fans at his soundcloud.
The Free Track of The Week, “Someone”, is a smooth and soothing drum’n’bass piece. It is a rework of a track ‘Joku Jota Rakastan’ (Someone I Love) by a Finnish folk band ‘Kaseva’ from the good ol’ 70’s.” I like the melodies and drums a lot, this is a fine piece of art!
Kama is also doing a remix of my track “Mineral – Reach For The Stars“, and I’m really looking forward to his remix.

Naraka, also known as the other part of the famous Vesicle dubstep duo, presents an absolute neuro-dnb stunner. The track is an exclusive “2k10” edit of Naraka’s Bent Sky. I’ve been always a big fan of Naraka’s production, and I’ve played the original Bent Sky in clubs many times. It’s a real dancefloorkiller, I’m tellin’ ya…
In this “2k10” edit the atmosphere & sounds get even darker and nastier. Naraka shows his true production talents in this excellent track with rollerbeats and wicked neuro-basslines. Well, “it’s amazing”, just like the vocal says in the track!
